Life isn’t always what it seems
I have been reading books about werewolves and vampires but not the old tales where the werewolf and vampire were the bad guys. Oh no, my werewolves and vampires are good looking and good lovers. Just the kind of escapism a person needs after a no-nothing day. These books take me out of myself for a short time and make me more able to face the reality of the day. But the question came up as to what is reality and whether or not there really might be werewolves and vampires. The first gut reaction is that no of course there are no such persons as vampires and werewolves. We know now that there are medical reasons why a person might have been thought to be a vampire if they had an inability to stand the sun but have you ever really seen a werewolf? I had friends who claimed to be vampires. The entire family only went out at night and the children were home schooled. The father worked at a slaughterhouse and brought home blood. We used to laugh and tease before we went to visit, asking them if they had already eaten, as we didn’t want to be on the menu.
A magazine did a survey once on vampires. They asked their readers if they believed in vampires. To their surprise not only did a good proportion say that they did believe but 2% claimed that they were actually vampires. Were these people who said that they were vampires lying or just deluded? Or could they really have been vampires? What do you think? And if there really are vampires then obviously these people aren’t the walking dead. So how did they become vampires?
A vampire may hide in plain sight. After all he does look like the rest of the human population but werewolves are a little more difficult to pinpoint and accept. I mean, really, have you ever seen a person turn into a werewolf? But did you know that there is a little known disease that is called Lycanthropy? This disease doesn’t make a person turn their body into that of a wolf but the fact is that this virus seems to take hold on a full moon night and they begin acting in a strange manner. Here are the symptoms: First the person infected with the Lycanthropy virus has an unsolvable problem and thinking about the problem causes a bad headache. Sometimes the person affected seems to fall asleep for a moment or two but then their extremities begin to twitch and they jerk around. If they can get outside they begin running but if they are inside and you look into their eyes you can tell that there is no one home. Their strength increases tenfold and they can pick up a full-grown person with one hand. When morning comes they remember nothing of what happened the night before. The problem with this disease is that it isn’t romantic and we want our werewolves to be romantic. Do you think that there might be real werewolves out there that we have never seen? Don’t be too quick to shake your head in a negative way. Remember it hasn’t been too many years when we didn’t know that microbes existed, the world was flat and the sun went around the earth.
The other day I picked up a book at the North Columbus Library on the Paranormal. The author was supposed to be a highly trained and sought after author. Imagine my dismay when after taking the book home I found out that the author was noted for debunking all paranormal activities. I have known persons who follow what they “feel in their gut” but debunk any kind of ESP. Where do they think this feeling comes from? I have been told that these feelings come from past actions but what about when there is no past action? The rational person rationalizes away these paranormal actions and feels quite superior to those who believe in the paranormal.
When I was a small child I saw auras. It was not like the holy family pictures where the aura is only around the head, these auras were around the entire person. I can remember seeing three colors surrounding each person. It was fun to watch a person become angry and the red in their auras springing out like fireworks. Whenever my father was at work I would look at his aura before interrupting him. I didn’t know what the different colors meant but it seemed to me that when a person was concentrating very hard on a subject the aura showed this concentration and it never seemed to be a good idea to interrupt.
Did you know that music has an aura? The next time you are where live music is playing, close your eyes and ‘feel’ the music. What colors are you seeing? If the floor is wood, take off your shoes and ‘feel’ the music through your feet.
Ghosts and goblins and things that go bump in the night. How much is real and how much is fantasy? The Paranormal has been through a rain of fire and emerged but still some people cannot bring themselves to believe in anything that they cannot see, touch or taste. So we are back again to the fact that only a few years ago bacteria was a fairy tale and the atom was the smallest a thing could get and man would never get to the moon in our life-time. We live in the magic of cell phones and computers that used to take up an entire floor and now sit on our desks. If we can accept that these miracles have happened why can’t we accept that there is more to life then what we consciously see?
