Ask ISIS

No Time Too Busy

A wise person once said that if you needed something done to ask a busy person to do it because that person could always find time to take on another project. But today it seems that we are all ‘too busy’ to take on even the basics let alone take on any ‘projects’.

ISIS was reading a poem about childhood and that we should take time to love our children. ISIS then read in the paper where someone killed two of their children and seriously wounded another. Can you imagine how the surviving child felt to know that the one person in the entire world who was supposed to love and protect him was the one who visited this horror on him? In a child’s mind He will always ask himself, “What did I do to make him kill everyone and shoot me?” To a child it is always the child’s fault that the grown up has no time for him or hurts him.

You who have children in either your immediate family or as nieces and nephews, have you taken the time to love them? Have you spent time with them and made them feel special or have you been too busy, too rushed with no time? Have you made time to put aside you own work and worries to teach the child a new craft, to laugh and play and to make them feel special? Childhood lasts such a short time but it is a time when the grown ups are a gods. Are you worthy of being a god to a child?

A wife asked her husband to go to see a play with her. The husband was deep into work he had brought home and told her to go alone as he had no time and was too busy to accompany her. That night a drunk driver ran her car off the road and she was killed instantly. The fact that the husband had ‘no time’ will stay with him for many a long cold year. Have you been guilty of having ‘no time and being too busy’?

There is a country song that states they never saw a tombstone that said the person lying there wished that they had worked harder. How often do we get so busy making money that our children are grown before we even realize that the time has rushed on and we have left everything valuable behind?

ISIS heard a woman say that she would love to go back to college but she had no time. How often have we said we’d like to start a hobby but there just wasn’t enough time? What would you like to do if only you had the time?

Write down everything you do in a day and see if you don’t notice that you do indeed have the time to do what you wish but have crammed your life with non-essentials so that you won’t have time to do what you desire. And why is that? Mostly because if you have ‘no time’ to do these things then you can’t fail.

Someone said that most of us live our lives in quiet desperation but might it also be that we have no overriding urge to accomplish something? Maybe watching TV every night or sitting at the computer lets us escape from a world that baffles us. We work all day in a sedentary occupation then go home to a TV and computer. On the weekends we visit the clubs. When do we live? Who are we? How would we define ourselves? Are we our occupation? What is our heart’s desire? What would be so important that we would give up everything else and feel that it was worth the sacrifice? Sometimes we are so busy that we sacrifice that which is the most important and never realize what we have lost until it is too late.

A present is a gift and every new day is a gift and that is why it is called the present. Each day is a new present. It is what we do with this present that defines us. Maybe yesterday we were too busy to stop and smell the roses. Maybe yesterday we were in a hurry and irritated. Maybe yesterday we were sharp to a loved one. But that was yesterday. Today you have a choice. The choice is simple. You can decide to be all that you can be and be someone that you are happy to know or you can be someone who does nothing in life. You can hug your loved ones and bring happiness and joy into another’s life: you can make time for yourself doing the things you always meant to do or you can continue on in the rut that you are in. The choice is yours. We are all here for a purpose. We may not know what that purpose is but until we make time we will never discover our true self, that self that was put on earth for a reason.
